What I'm Up to Now: April 2025

Got my first hardware synth (MiniFreak!), and started microdosing THC. Also, some good films and work addiction musings.

My first hardware synth! The Arturia Minifreak

I took a break from my new Ghost website since it launched back in February. I've had a few other things taking up my time, such as a 10-day dog-sitting job and a freelance illustration gig for a client.

I'm currently running a sale in my Starseed Supply Co shop. Most items like patches and stickers are 25% off this week.

I got my first hardware synth. The Arturia Minifreak. Loving it so far. I want to enjoy playing music again. Experimenting without the pressure to "produce" tracks in a DAW. More jams, more presence, more vibes. Cara got her first synth a few months ago (Korg Minilogue XD) and we are looking forward to jamming together.

We've been watching March Madness again this year, but admittedly not as into it as previous years. But we're happy to see Paige Bueckers and the UCONN Huskies with the National Championship. We've been following her career since 2020 and it feels like the end of an era.

I'm also experimenting with microdosing THC and CBD. Taking about 1-3 mg daily with an edible. I wrote about microdosing shrooms last year, and the motivations were similar. I have a highly "work addicted" personality (according to the WART test) but have a deep desire to relax and feel my feelings, be present with what is, and stop trying to do and achieve.

Reading the book Ambition Monster, a memoir about work addiction. It inspired me to reflect on my own restlessness and guilt for "not being productive". There was a great podcast interview with the author worth listening to.

I watched a few good films recently. Certain Women by Kelly Reichardt, Pig with Nic Cage, Dinner in America a punk rock romcom, and Adolescence on Netflix which I thought was really good.

That's about all for this update. Thanks for reading!
