Starbound Renegade

The Origin Story
I’ve been making electronic music since the early 2000s, starting with Fruity Loops 3 under the alias BOXOMYLK. Back then it was all hip hop beats, wonky techno bangers, and chiptune and Nintendocore experiments.
I produced 12 albums under that name, but by 2015, my life had cracked open. I went through a mystical awakening, a divorce, and walked away from a 9-year design career. I took a solo road trip around the U.S., which I called the Starseed Tour, and began forming a new identity, both artistically and spiritually.
That’s when Starbound Renegade was born.
The name felt like a forgotten ‘80s video game hero. Part alien wanderer, part divine rebel. I didn't vibe with the "love and light" aesthetics in New Age circles, so I made something my own.

The Music
As a drummer with a pop punk background (and a former b-boy) I naturally gravitate toward upbeat rhythms and aggressive production. You'll hear hard-hitting breakdowns with a dash of hip hop, breakbeat, and EDM.
My album Starseed Fun Time reflects the cosmic joy I feel making music, while That Midnight Soul dives into my shadow side... trap, metalcore, and dark synthwave.
I released Polarized in 2021, inspired by an inner drive to reconcile opposing forces within myself. Dark and light. Masculine and feminine. My production was tighter and more refined with the "dueling synths" motif becoming a signature sound: Two contrasting voices trading melodies, back and forth in a call-and-response. Clashing, harmonizing, or shouting together like gang vocals.
Listen to the Albums
Since then I have still been producing music, just not at the rapid pace I had been before. With the advent of AI tools, I've experimented with synthetic voices using tools like Synthesizer V, producing tracks like "Just a Sloth on a Mystical Journey" and "Intrusive Thoughts". The latter marked my first foray into post-punk darkwave.
What's Next?
In 2025, I got my first hardware synth, the Arturia MiniFreak, and started learning Ableton Live after 20+ years in FL Studio. I'm currently writing new tracks and hope to release a new album soon. Some current inspirations are doom, lo-fi, ambient, and dungeon synth. No clue where it will lead, but I'm excited.
