Now

What I'm up to currently.

Learning Ableton Live (Seed to Stage course). Surprised how intuitive it feels after 20+ years in FL Studio. Might switch DAWs for good. Upgraded my audio interface (Arturia MiniFuse 4) and have been getting used to my MiniFreak. I love all of this so much.

Ordered a fresh batch of stickers for Starseed Supply Co. Improved my Starbound Renegade page and added Readwise and Sticker Mule to Tools.

Reading The Maps We Carry by Rose Cartwright. One of the best books I've read about mental illness and healing. Laughing at Kyle Mooney sketches on YouTube. Watching films like A Glitch in the Matrix and listening to Back From the Borderline + The Telepathy Tapes podcasts.

Revisiting nu-metal gems from my college days (Spineshank still hits). Joined record.club - a new Letterboxd site for music. Bought a Windmill AC unit for my bedroom (goodbye night sweats). Celebrated Cara’s 37th birthday at the Ohio Caverns. Using TeuxDeux for a to-do list app.

Taking a break from my Ghost site since its February launch. Had a freelance illustration gig and a 10-day dog-sitting job.

Got my first hardware synth (Arturia MiniFreak!) really enjoying it. Trying to play for fun again without the pressure to "produce." Cara and I are looking forward to jamming (she has a Korg Minilogue XD).

Watching March Madness... happy for Paige Bueckers and UCONN.

Microdosing THC/CBD (1–3mg daily) to unwind my inner workaholic to feel more comfortable being instead of doing.

Reading Ambition Monster, a memoir on work addiction, and it's hitting close to home. Watching: Certain Women, Pig, Dinner in America, and Adolescence on Netflix.

New site launch, migrating content, and tweaking designs.

It’s been a week since I launched my new site on Ghost, and I’m still deep in the process of moving everything over from WordPress (10+ years of content), and I’ve been trying to focus on what matters instead of getting lost in the weeds.

The site is live, though, and most of my digital products are up. Still working on the rest. Ghost is great, but has its quirks. I’m figuring it out. I even added some new templates for books and products, which makes things feel more organized.

I also set up a Now page, which is where you’re reading this. Just a simple space for quick updates and thoughts, without the pressure of turning everything into a big polished post. Oh, and I sent out my first newsletter from the new setup, which felt like a nice little milestone.

Outside of all that, Cara and I just celebrated six years together. Nothing fancy, just some pizza, synth documentaries, and good vibes.

Lately, I’ve been reading Beyond Anxiety by Martha Beck and Quantum Hillbilly by Renee Garcia. Both have been giving me a lot to think about, in very different ways. Watching some stuff like Chimp Crazy (which we loved), The Tale with Laura Dern, Eden Lake, Speak No Evil, and a bunch of other stuff. Some unsettling, some just fascinating. Also listening to a lot of dungeon synth and liminal ambient and the slowed and reverb chrome extension.

Speaking of synths, I’m thinking about finally getting one. Cara’s been loving her Korg Minilogue XD, and I keep coming back to the Arturia Minifreak. I want something that makes me excited to play again, without immediately thinking about "producing" or finishing a track.

Other than that, I’m still chipping away at migrating my shop, adding a Tools page, and improving things for paid members. But I’m trying not to get too caught up in only working. We’ll see how that goes.
