Got a lot of things going on and we&#8217;re seeing some movement on the creative front. Excited to share this with you. Here&#8217;s the rundown for the week:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What I&#8217;ve Been Doing:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\ud83c\udf99\ufe0f Podcast Recording: <\/strong>Not launched yet, but soon! On Monday, we recorded the first episode of <em><strong>We Should Be Working<\/strong><\/em>, our new podcast project. In it, my co-host <a href=\"https:\/\/fightingfish.studio\/about.html\">\u200bZach Hendrix\u200b<\/a> and I go into the what it&#8217;s all about and why we&#8217;re starting a podcast. We&#8217;re both excited and can&#8217;t wait to officially launch it in the next week or two. He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C2u72rgusF5\/\">\u200bfound a old Roland KR33\u200b<\/a> digital keyboard at Goodwill and it&#8217;s got a nice retro sound. I was already working on an 80&#8217;s pop tune and thought it&#8217;d be fun if he wrote something for it. Josh and I have done collabs before including the synthy pop punk track <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/w6MD6UCYeQ4\">\u200bArcade Days\u200b<\/a> and some <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/iK8lTEQoc_g\">\u200bhandpan tunes\u200b<\/a>. He <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Hez1iR2Xs7Q\">\u200binterviewed me\u200b<\/a> on his podcast awhile back discussing astral projection and <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/XztKxunbJTY\">\u200bBrent Simon\u200b<\/a>. Cool!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\ud83c\udfc0 Women&#8217;s B-Ball: <\/strong>This was just <em>awesome<\/em>. Yesterday, Cara and I watched Caitlin Clark <a href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/caitlin-clark-breaks-ncaa-womens-basketball-all-time-scoring-record-sets-single-game-record-010800000.html\">\u200bmake history.\u200b<\/a> She broke the all-time women&#8217;s scoring record, while also scoring 49 points (career high) and dishing out 13 assists. And she <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ybAU4bPU6Yk\">\u200bdid it in incredible fashion\u200b<\/a>. What a thrilling thing to witness since following her journey since 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"CAITLIN CLARK BREAKS NCAAW ALL-TIME SCORING RECORD \ud83d\ude31 | ESPN College Basketball\" width=\"1290\" height=\"726\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/A1uSe2l1ENg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Caitlin Clark breaks the scoring record in the most &#8220;Caitlin&#8221; way<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this week, we went to see UCONN (our other fav team) play Xavier down in Cincinnati. It was <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/6T4R51mO5tM\">\u200ba blowout\u200b<\/a>, as expected, but we had great seats ten rows behind the UCONN bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2728 Feedback on AI Therapy Tools:<\/strong> I had a brief call with the developers of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.refract.space\/\">\u200bRefract\u200b<\/a>, the AI-assisted IFS (internal family systems) self-therapy app. I hadn&#8217;t used it for a few weeks, and they wanted my feedback. I took that opportunity to provide my honest thoughts on the complex nuances of using digital technology and AI to help us with our mental health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On one hand, we all agree that getting away from screens is good for us, but the devs also want you to use their app. We talked about the business pressure to onboard more users and get paying subscribers and how it conflicts with the goal of a healthy userbase that doesn&#8217;t need the app anymore. Kinda like how dating apps can&#8217;t make any money if people are in healthy stable relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Founder <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/_brentbaum\">\u200bBrent Baum\u200b<\/a> is aware of this paradox and I&#8217;m glad other people are thinking about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Else I&#8217;m Into:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m still exploring the seedy underbelly of self-help and business. Just questioning the cult-like nature of work, making money, marketing, and the entire paradigm of &#8220;success&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s complicated for artists ya know? We gotta eat. We gotta pay bills. But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/culture\/2024\/2\/1\/24056883\/tiktok-self-promotion-artist-career-how-to-build-following\">\u200bdo we really have to sell out\u200b<\/a> to do it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pushkin.fm\/podcasts\/the-dream\">\u200b<strong>The Dream Podcast<\/strong>\u200b<\/a> &#8211; Deep dive into the history of pyramid schemes, MLMs, and the wellness industry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/49A77q8\">\u200b<strong>Tangled Up in Abraham Hicks <\/strong>\u200b<\/a>&#8211; A personal account of an Abe Hicks believer turned skeptic.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/LuLaRich-Season-1\/dp\/B09CFXPNSX\">\u200b<strong>LuLa Rich<\/strong>\u200b<\/a> &#8211; A docu-series on the rise and fall of LuLaRoe, a wildly popular women&#8217;s clothing brand that turned out to be a pyramid scheme.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/49eOmbW\">\u200b<em><strong>Sure, I&#8217;ll Join Your Cult<\/strong><\/em><strong> by Maria Bamford<\/strong>\u200b<\/a> &#8211; One of my favorite comedians released a memoir a few months ago and I got it on audiobook. She talks about living with mental illness and OCD.
